What it is
By the time that you hear the name, you would think that it is such a unique name, right? But is the place as unique as its name? Well, the place, which is actually a restaurant, is pretty unique since it has a concept based on the construction and the features of a traditional house of Javanese culture. When you arrive at the place for the first time, you will be shown a place which looks like a parlor room and this room is used by the customers to reserve a table. Well, it is recommended that you come here as early as possible before meal time since this place will usually be pretty crowded- you might need to wait for a long time!
Fortunately, waiting in the parlor room would not make you bored since the room is equipped with a large television that you can watch, as well as chairs that you can sit on. Aside from the basic features, you will be amazed by the statues and other accessories in the room that you can use for having a selfie or just photographing around. The interesting items you can find in the parlor room are the large kereta kencana (Javanese chariot), an old bicycle, some unique murals, and the restaurant’s mascot which depicts a woman wearing Javanese traditional clothing.
After you have gotten a table, you will then be welcomed to enter the main room of the House of Raminten. It has two stories that you can choose to occupy and both require you to sit on the floor without any chair. This style of dining is popular among the locals and they call it as lesehan style. Oh, by the way, you will notice that the waiters and waitresses are wearing traditional clothes- the waitresses are where you want to order food and drink and the waiters will deliver what you have ordered to your table. The menus are mostly based on Javanese and local cuisines, although there are few western menus as well like a toast and ice creams. Now, have you decided to visit House of Raminten?
